About Tyndale Deer Veterinary Services
Background
Tyndale Deer Veterinary Services is a species team within Tyndale Vets Ltd. Tyndale Vets is an independent large animal veterinary practice based in Gloucestershire and South Wales and is part of XL Vets. The deer team within Tyndale operate throughout the UK and aim to provide high quality services to the deer under their care. The team are passionate about deer, which are often not part of a veterinarian's usual caseload, and aim to improve understanding and veterinary input to the national deer herd.
History
Tyndale Deer Veterinary Services was started by Kit and Sam in 2018. Since beginning deer specific veterinary work, they have been heavily involved in the further education of vets and delivery of CPD, had significant involvement in the development of APHA TB surveillance in deer, leading industry discussions on current challenges and are actively engaged in endangered species conservation.
The deer team now have a significant clinical caseload all over the UK, working with all types of deer and deer populations, from farms, parks, zoo collections and wild deer.
Veterinary Cover
Whilst the team are based in Gloucestershire, they work all across England and Wales to provide veterinary input to deer populations. This geographical spread can make attending veterinary emergencies challenging, however we appreciate that a large number of deer farmers and managers are often used to working with remote support, which we are happy to provide. We can then attend in as short a time as feasible given the nature of the problem and your location.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of reindeer, and their keeping in the UK, we are unable to take on reindeer clients outside of the usual geographical area of Tyndale Vets. This is because we would be unable to provide suitable emergency cover for those areas, in accordance with RCVS "under care" guidance. We are, however always happy to work with your local veterinary team to try to help provide the best care for your reindeer.
