Park deer are a unique part of the British institution. Whilst park deer have no specific legal definition, they are often considered to be a group of deer that are enclosed and where the population is actively managed by humans. Groups of park deer can be found within stately homes, areas of public access and in private collections.
Park deer may be kept for display purposes, for historic reasons or for the pleasure of their presence. The legal status of park deer is a matter of discussion and can cause issues with varying pieces of legislation and guidance. We are happy to help and discuss these issues and the affect these may have on your herd.
As park deer are governed by the Deer Act 1991, in order to catch or use stupefying drugs to immobilise deer, a Natural England License must be possessed. We possess an open license from Natural England, so if we can be of any assistance in the translocation of park deer, please do get in touch.
